A New End --> {The Future} --> « Thread Started on Feb 9, 2009, 8:02pm »
The cool stone walls are the same. The window that overlooks the stolid Black Lake hasn't changed a bit. Even the ancient purple couch sits where it always has, though its fabric has frayed and the cushions are overstuffed with mildew.
An old rat scuttling over the floor is the loudest sound. It keeps near to the wall, disrupts a once carefully-crafted cobweb that has drooped with age. The spider has long since left to seek better refuge. It had more intelligence than this placid rat, whose hurried scrabbling echoes down the hall. The echo echoes upon itself, but even that pathetic attempt at the rebirth of sound soon fades away.
And then the dust is suddenly awakened from its slumber by the arrival of nine pairs of feet, lazily arising to once again become motes in the sullen light that oozes over the windowsill and flattens itself against the stone. A reluctant lurid glow tentatively shimmers on the faces of the new arrivals, wondering alongside the petrified rat,

Aiya kept her eyes closed, kept her limbs where they were, and shivered. It was extremely cold here, where ever they had ended up. Even the swirling vortex of five million colors -- colors she'd never even thought of before, never mind seen -- had been relatively warm. George and Fred had told them it was a time device. But what happened when the time device broke? Where did that take them?
Aiya was afraid to find out.
Her unorthodox pose was threatening to tip her over. And what would she tip over into? Grass? Snow? A ditch? A tar pit? Another hole in the fabric of space and time? Candy? Even that couldn't tempt her. She contiued to keep her eyes stuck shut, but wrapped her arms around herself and plopped her bottom down so as not to fall down into who-knows-what.
Plopped her bottom down onto...more cold? Snow, was her first thought. But her pants weren't getting wet. Grass? She wiggled a little and slipped to one side. A smooth surface without traction. Not grass. ...Stone? She was on stone? She had been on stone before! Could it be that she had gone nowhere? If so, then why was it so gosh darn cold?
Very tentatively, she peeked open one eye and looked through a slit no bigger than an eyelash. All she could see was...eyelid. Well, dang it. She opened the eye a little more, looking down to see what she was sitting on, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was indeed, stone!
Huh. She opened both eyes and poked the gray slab to be sure. Yep, and it was the same stone she had been sitting on before. So did that mean they had gone nowhere? ...Well, that would be boring. At that particular thought, curiousity swam up to overwhelm the fear. Were they in Prague in the 1920s? Were barbarians going to come storming through the door any moment now? Had they been tossed so far back that everything around them would be dust and motes of light? Were they about to see the birth of the universe?
Aiya opened her eyes fully and looked around. Oh, poo. They were right where they'd left from. No Prague. But then again, when were they? The young Ravenclaw glanced around the room, and shivered again. Whenever we are...it's sad, she thought at the sight of the empty room. There weren't any people except for them. There wasn't even the sounds of people coming from other places in the castle; no yelling or laughing or talking. Could it be that they the only people left in the entire castle of Hogwarts?
Muggle-born...and proud of it, thank you very much.

Grant had never felt more disoriented in his life. Then again, he'd never been through a wormhole in the very fabric of space/time. The first thought he got was that it was a bit cold. Opening his eyes, Grant saw what looked suspiciously like the Hogwarts common room, minus most of the students. He saw that Aiya was stirring, while everyone else in the room (all eight of them) were still either unconscious or just lying down. Sitting up, Grant tried to piece together the puzzle. They had not moved at all spatially, but had seemed to travel through time. To when was the question. It could be the future or the past, but Grant thought the future, judging from what he thought were chocolate stains in the corners. He asked Aiya "Ok, so now what?" He didn't think she'd have much more of an idea than him, but it was better than jsut sitting here.
...And I'm too deep in, I can't find your hand. Sorry things didn't work out the way we planned...

With her hand still in Leonardo's, Ana closed her eyes and felt a cold blow of air upon her face. It was a colder cold than she had ever known, ten times colder than her own vampire skin which by itself, caused a warmest blooded Fiona to shiver. She wiggled her nose to reassure herself that it had not fallen off due to frost bite and when she heard other voices around her, she felt safe enough to close her eyes. When she did, she was in a speechless awe.
She must have looked like an idiot with her mouth hanging open and her eyes wide and staring, but Ana couldn't do anything else in that moment. Just moments ago she was in a warm common room, filled with happy colors and exciting people. It was a room that brought the whole school together, it was a place that united them and gave Ana a family feel that she didn't even feel with her own family. But the room she was looking at now, which surely was the same room, wasn't the same in the least. This room wasn't warm. Like mentioned before, it was colder than her own skin and made her pale skin shiver now with discomfort and fear. It wasn't decorated with warm colors, but now appeared to be dipped in gray scale coloring, as if they were all in an old black and white horror movie. And now, half the people she had been with before, her family, the people who made Hogwarts a home away from home, were now gone. She shook her head. There was no way this was the Common Room they were just in. There was no way.
Ana looked over at Aiya who looked just as disturbed as her and she went to her side, rubbing her cold arms, trying to comfort her. She shook her head again and looked at Grant, her face one of worry.
I don't know...I don't even know where we are...
She looked to Leo, hoping that her lover could do something to make her heart beat go back to normal.

Leonardo wasn't a hundred percent sure he knew what was going on. He had been standing in the Common Room all of ten seconds ago, hanging out with his friends, and then Harvey, the stupid dog, had lunged for something that George had in his hands, and there was an explosion, and now, Leonardo was colder than he had ever been. This didn't make sense to him. He was the warmest of the warm, and no matter how cold it got in Hogwarts, he could always stand it, simply because of his blood. There was a smell that he couldn't quite place either. It wasn't the scent of the fire in the Common Room,, which was calming and familiar, but it was sharp and bitter and it was stinging his nose.
At this point, Leonardo found it necessary to open his eyes. What greeted him mystified him only more. Instead of the light filled room that he had seen before, filled with friends and comfortable chairs and a roaring fire, it was as though the entire picture had been changed into black and white. The walls were a dull gray, there was worn furniture all around them, the fireplace looked like it hadn't been used in years, and there was a thick layer of dust on just about everything. There was a somber aura about the room, and he couldn't even think about smiling just then. He was still holding Ana's hand; thank God that hadn't changed and she was still there with him.
Then, her hand was slipping out of Leonardo's, and he reached for his wand instinctively. The ten inch juniper wand was out and pointing at the ground in a second, a muttered Lumos lighting up the tip. The only change about the room that was immediately noticeable was that the heavy drapes that were usually drawn back from the windows weren't, and it shrouded the room in near complete darkness. His eyes were far better than the average wizard's in the lack of light, but he thought that they might fare better with even a mediocre wand leading the way. He cast the tip of it around the room, and saw Ana near Aiya, and Grant sitting on the couch. Where the hell had he come from?
>> "I don't know...I don't even know where we are..." >> "What do we do now?"
Leonardo took a slightly unsteady breath. "I don't know. I...I think it's Hogwarts. But...it's not." He crossed the room towards Ana, putting a hand on her shoulder to reassure her. He was looking around the room as he did so, trying to find any sort of clue that might help them. It looked like no one had been there in years, but...wait! There! He squinted, pointing the wand towards it. There was one tiny patch of unsettled dust, right in front of a wall. And on the wall was a yellowed piece of paper that he couldn't quite make out. Giving Ana's shoulder a squeeze, he went to go take a look at it, stopping just in front of it. His blue eyes widened when he read it.
"It's...it's a calender." He whirled around to face the others.

Cal yelped as soon as his butt hit the floor. The cold, cold floor. "Damn!" he shouted, scrambling to his feet, only to trip over a couch and go sprawling on his face. This was not a good way to start off a trip in wherever they were. Actually, where were they? He looked from his view on the ground, but he couldn't make out much. He inhaled, then immediately began coughing, sounding like he was going to hack up a lung. There was a layer of dust on the floor about an inch thick, and he had probably just sucked half an inch up his nose. "I'm dying!" he wheezed, flipping over so that he was on his hands and knees, still coughing.
Once the coughing fit had subsided, he slowly got to his feet. It was almost pitch black in the room, and he held his hands out in front of him. "Guys? Guys, where are you? Am I alone? Did a whale eat me?" The next moment, he was walking into someone, and he had knocked them to the floor. From the feel of it, it was a girl. He had to check, though, so he spoke. "Bella? Bella, is that you?" He went to push himself off of the ground, but ended up poking himself in the eye. After a few muttered curses, he managed to get up. He dusted the front of his shirt off, before remarking to the person he thought was Bella, "Wow, Bella, your boobs are smaller than I remember. There's hardly anything there!"
>> "It's dated twenty years in the future."
Cal's head whipped around when he heard Leonardo's voice, a sinking feeling in his stomach. "What d'you mean?" He then glanced down. "And, more importantly, why don't I have pants?!"
((Just for the record, Cal fell on Ana.))

Cliff fell on his spine as it hit on some random object. "Ow! Stupid thing." He said while sitting up. "Is everyone okay?" As he looks around he notices the room is familiar to him. At the same time it is unfamilar. "What in the name of Merlin happened here?" He stands up while using his staff as support and pulls out his wand.
"Lumos"He said as he shines some light. He wonders around the room to find something to answer the where, when and what happened here.
"It's dated twenty years in the future." Leo observed. "What d'you mean? And, more importantly, why don't I have pants?!"
"Beats me with the pants part, Cal." Cliff answered as he turns to the others. "But what Leo saying in layman's terms: We've been sent twenty years in the future."It is possible because of Fred and George's invention. I need to hurt them when I see them. He ponders to himself as he recollects what happened in the last few mins.

Cold. Ice? No, not ice. Not snow either. Colder still. It burned slightly and made her shiver through her clothes. Her eyes were clamped shut, as tight as they would manage. With darkness all around, the cold couldn't get to her, right? Wrong. No matter how how black the inside of her eyelids were, the cold would not vanish. Nor would the nauseating role of her stomach. Her sensitive ears were ringing as if a muggle telephone was held up to her head. Bella whimpered and slid her hands to her ears. Cue light head ache.
This was much what it felt like to apparate. Well. With someone else at least. Bella was not yet able to apparate by herself, but she had done so with her father and Aine, as well as Jean and Cal and her other friends. The rush that pushed her body from all different directions and the physical symptoms she always seemed to get were similar, but not quite the same, however. There was no sense of falling.
Confusion was easily reachable by this point. The last thing she remembered happening was people disappearing from the common room. Now, she just...wait. What was going on? He eyes were still closed, so she hadn't the faintest clue what was around her. Well now, we will just have to change that now, won't we?
Easier said than done.
With Fred and George's talk of time travel, Bella couldn't help but wonder if she landed in some strange time without anyone else with her. While some strange place probably wouldn't have a nice seat to sit in, like she did, it was oddly quiet. Until a familiar voice reached her muffled ears.
>>"Bella? Bella, is that you?"
Cal. Of course that was the first person she heard. No doubt other words had been spoken, but the fact that Cal was here made the situation a whole lot better and actually worth listening to. Letting go of her head and opening her eyes, Bella was greeted with a grim looking sight. The common room...but not the common room.
The colors were gone and the life seemed to be sucked right out of the room. Upon further investigation, the brunette only found half of the original number of people in this questionable room. Bella herself was sitting on the same couch in the same position she had been before people vanished and, well, the year changed.
While Cal looked for his pants and Ana worried to an boy that Bella did not know, the fox animagus was more focused on what Leo had said.
"Twenty years? Come on Leo." Rising from her seat, Bella crossed the room to look for herself. Low and behold, it was dated twenty years from what it should be. "Wait...that can't be right."

Jean lands on her sotmach on the stone floor and gets the wind knocked out of her. She gasps as she stands up and takes a minute to breathe while taking in the scenery. From what she gathered by other peoples conversations they were in the future.
"Oh snap! We are in the future?! This is soo COOL!" Leave it to Jean to be absolutely stoked about this. It was like a vacation but instead of going to somewhere exotic, you are staying where you are just in a different time period. Her thoughts immediately went to what everyone looked like in the future. Her curiosity was peaked. She really hoped curiosity in this case wouldn't kill the cat.
After regaining full function of her lungs she looked aorund at all of her friends. She saw Ana and Aiya first and hugglomptackled them both at the same time. "AiyaAna!"[b] she said in one word mushing the two names. [b]"Hai!!"[b] She then sees Cal with no pants. [b]"Pfft. Cal what did I tell you about keeping your pants on? I mean GEEZ!" Jean couldn't help but laugh.

Bee squeezed her eyes shut until the strange sensation that had consumed her subsided. It felt like hundreds of bugs crawling all over her body and she hated it. She wanted so bad to try and brush feeling away but she as frozen in the position she was in, out of fear and shock.
Once she managed to open one eye but instantly shut it when all she saw was a blinding white light. The feeling went from bad to ok, then back to pretty bad. Suddenly the atmosphere around her turned from the warm air that had once surrounded her to a freezing chill. Bee opened her eyes and looked around, she was back in the common room and the chair she had been on was no longer under her causing her to tumble to the floor with a loud thud.
"OOOW!" she groaned standing up and brushing the dust off her jeans. Wait? DUST!? Why was there dust on the floor? Why was it so cold? It was so cold Bee could see her breath. The common room was dark and cold. The candle sticks on the mantle were covered in cobwebs and one was even broken. All the furniture was moved around and covered in a dust like film
"Fred and George are SO dead!" she thought. How could they have messed whatever it is they were going to do? They were going to be in trouble with SO many people, especially the ministry. Running her fingers through her hair she tried to remember what they were talking about. Something about time and being able to go ino the past or future. Well what did THAT mean? If this was the past.....damn people didn't know what clean meant...but if this was the future.....then THIS is what happens to hogwarts.
Bee looked arlound at the people surrounding her. "Uh hi....um...WHAT THE HELL HAPPEN?!" she asked then saw Cal without his pants. "Cal what happened to your pants?"

((And that makes nine.)) "Twenty years?" Grant got up and took a look at the calendar. "Right on the date, too. Even the same time of day. Remind me to ask Fred and George how that thing works if we get back." Looking around, he saw that most everyone we stirring...and Cal had no pants. Ignoring the pants problem for now, Grant went over to the door and opened it. "So, are we going to see what Hogwarts is like in 2015?"

((it's okay)) "Well, I'm not sure if you notice by now or not, Bee. Fred and George's device send us twenty years in the future." He respond to Bee's question while looking at a enscription on the wall that he knew he hadn't notice before.
"Twenty years? Right on the date, too. Even the same time of day. Remind me to ask Fred and George how that thing works if we get back" Grant implied.
"Aparently, I'm a bit curious on that as well. I could have sworn that the Ministry have strict laws against using it (unless you have some valid, and acceptable reason). Let alone creating one." He responded. Though I thought that time travel is so complicated and fragile that not even the Unspeakables have it 'all down pact'"Well, I'm not sure if we could explore. But I do know this, if my memory serves me correctly, is that we definitely need to be careful. Anything can change in twenty years and if our future selves is still around, it wouldn't do them any good if any harm come to us." He briefly explains to the others.
He reads the inscription again as if he recognize the language then he turns around. "Okay," He spoke as he look around and sees there are fewer people than earlier. "Unless my mind playing tricks again, I thought there were a few more people around here than this."
