 Love && Sickness ((Aiden)) [F]
« Thread Started on Jan 14, 2009, 7:30pm »

Leilani was bustling about the hospital. She was caring and tending for many different patients, but they all seemed to be stable now. She didn’t really have anything to do so she stood outside of the door where all of the patients come in finishing up some paperwork. She loved working at the hospital. It was a liberating occupation she thought. She was happy to help people during this really hard time in the Wizarding World. She just wished she had something to do.

Leila hated dull moments. Sure, there weren’t that many to be had, but when they came around they were quite boring. Leila loved working. It gave her a sense of accomplishment when she went home after working 20-23 hour days. She also hated going back to her apartment. It was boring being all by herself. Sure, she could always go home and visit her mother, which reminded her that she had to respond to her owl. She decided to put that off until later, though.

Out of all the Locke children, Aiden would probably be voted the biggest mama’s boy. Every time his mother needed something whether it’s a coat, or food, or just attention, he was there. He also picked up her medicine refill at Mungo’s every month. Fiona and Doug didn’t bother with the task, hoping never to have to get that close to the hospital again and Leonardo couldn’t stand the guilt of thinking about all the meds Ana was really on. So, being the only one who was really left and cared all that deeply, Aiden went faithfully, every month, to go get his mother’s refill. It wasn’t really that much work anyway.

When he got there, Aiden remembered the whole place completely. Since the night he was bitten the whole place had been copied into his mind, unable to be forgotten. Not to mention, besides coming there every month for medicine, he had accompanied the rest of his family here numerous times for different wounds and Ana’s many emergencies. It was almost like another home, as depressing as that sounded.

Aiden loved his job at the Daily Prophet, as corrupt as it was, and even though he wasn’t thinking about changing jobs any time soon, he knew he could check hospital worker off his list of options. Being too sensitive about most things like the pain of others, Aiden knew he wouldn’t survive working in a hospital. Blood was really the only medical thing he could handle and that was for obvious reasons. He could remember though, a sweet brunette girl he once knew who knew that the whole hospital thing was for her. If he looked enough, he’d probably find her…

Her name was Leilani Aphrodite Harrington, love child of Alex Harrington and Caden Derosia. Aiden chuckled when he thought back to the time when he thought that was hot. In his earlier years, when he was about 13, he and Leilani were inseparable best friends, always together, attached at the hip, and knew each other better than anyone else; besides Fiona of course. Leilani was everything Aiden always pictured the perfect girl was. She was pretty, and smart and kind and funny, not to mention extremely passionate about magical creatures. Not a bad thing to be into when your best friend’s a vampire and has a werewolf sister. He recalled back to the ball they had during his 3rd year at Hogwarts and smiled when he remembered asking Leilani to the dance as more than friends. That was all it took too, and soon they had been dating for 5 years.

But Aiden had changed and by the end of his fifth year, he was completely different. He wanted to party and drink and do stupid stuff while Leilani stayed the same beautiful, sweet, responsible girl she had always been. He did the worst things to her, as he thought back on it. She had given him everything, and he meant everything, and all he could do was fool around and goof off. They broke up after graduating, and after she decided she wanted to stop dealing with all the shit he put her through. Now, he didn’t blame her.

But Aiden had changed again, and now was once again his old kind and sensitive self, the same guy Leilani had fallen for when they were just 13. But Aiden frowned. She’d never take a second look at him now, not after all he put her through. And why would she have any reason to think he had changed?

Leilani had no patience what so ever with paperwork right now and decided to give it up and she put it in her office for later. She roamed throughout the hospital looking for something to do. She went by one her patient’s rooms and saw that there was a young girl in there, sitting by her mother. She knocked lightly on the door and smiled at the girl when she looked up. Hi, I’m Dr. Harrington. But you can call me Lailani.” She saw the weird look the girl gave her and tried to get the girl to warm up to her. [b]“Would you like some chocolate? I was about to go get some…” The girl’s eyes brightened as she nodded fast. Leilani smiled and took the girl’s hand in her own.

She hated seeing the children of her patients be sad. She wanted them to trust their parents’ doctors and know that they would be okay. She took the little girl into the nurse’s station and conjured a large plate of chocolate squares of different animals and had the girl sit down. She turned the TV onto some Muggle cartoons and smiled as the girl became immediately engrossed in the show. She left the girl there after telling a nurse to watch after her and looked around for something else to do.

She stopped by the pharmacy to see if there was any big line that they needed help in handling. There was barely 10 people there, but she became focused on a very familiar guy. Black hair, strong build, from what she could see, those oh so sexy dimples. She remembered those dimples like she remembered that her name was Leilani Harrington.

She debated in her head for a good 2 minutes on whether or not to say something. She opted not to, and walked right by him to see if he would speak. Come on Aiden…say something…anything…, she willed him in her mind.

Several years ago Aiden would have ditched the short line of people and cussed, not caring have his impatientness affected those around him, but like he said before, he had changed and this line didn’t seem all that gruesome after all. As he stood there and stared around aimlessly, he caught sight of several brunette nurses and curiosity got the best of him.

Trying to identify if one of the girls was his previous beau, he wriggled and jumped in and out of line, turning and squinting, trying to catch a glimpse of the young girls. Sadly though, no cigar. First off, one was too short to be her and the other was too fat and was obviously not a friendly person like his old Leilani, judging from the horrible grimace on her face as she watched after this one child. Aiden sighed. As much as he’d love to run into Leilani right now and strike up a conversation, this hospital was huge, and she might not have even been on shift that night. With another sigh, he kept his place in line.

Not really knowing what to do with himself Aiden did whatever he could. He checked his watch several times per second, he flipped through several magazines, he even stood there looking at people, trying to picture what animal they looked like. As patient as he had become the truth was, he still hated lines.

Then, just as Aiden was about to sigh for the ump-tenth time, he felt a presence next to him and he looked that way. No way, he thought. It couldn’t be…but it was. It was her. If his eyes could have literally popped out of the sockets they would have and he felt his jaw drop slightly. He must have looked like an idiot just standing there, but he didn’t know what else to do. She was so beautiful, even more than the last time he saw her. He felt a pressure in his chest as he tried to find something to say, something simple yet powerful, something that might describe how he felt.

“Huh, wow.”

He exhaled deeply and could have hit himself. What was he 15 again? Wow? Seriously. He cleared his throat.

“I mean…hi. Hi.”

He was so awkward.

She stood there for a few seconds just waiting for him to say something. She thought it was so cute how he was being so impatient. That was one of her favorite things about him, he couldn’t wait for anything. He had maybe about 2 minutes worth of patience, if that. She tried not to stare at him. She had to not even look at him if her plan was going to go the way she wanted. It’s just she was so into his dimples. They were what made Aiden, Aiden. She would remember being sad, and Aiden would just smile at her and those dimples made her warm inside.

She was such a hopeless romantic it was sad. She couldn’t help it though! Her life was deprived of it, and ever since Aiden came into her life she became a passionate person. That is why she wanted this encounter with Aiden to be perfect. But then of course, her thoughts had to go back to their last encounter, when he was god-awful to her. He had changed at the end of their relationship, which was what ended their five-year strong relationship.

Leilani and Aiden were the best of friends before they started dating. Their close friendship is what eventually made them decide to start dating, they wanted to be on that more than friends level. It was perfect too, they knew absolutely everything about each other. Aiden knew that she was a love child, and that her father was dead because of the battle that occurred 20 years ago. His father hated Leilani for it, but Aiden didn’t care. That was when she was sure that this relationship would work out. Leilani did regret the fact that her friendship with Aiden’s sister Fiona had died, they too had also been the best of friends.

But about six months before their relationship ended, Aiden had been acting out a lot which wasn’t really like him, at all. He started drinking and drinking and drinking. His new angry side affected Leilani in many ways. As much as it killed for her to say this, she didn’t want her relationship getting to be like her mother and her fathers were before he died. So Aiden eventually just pushed Leilani over the edge and caused their relationship ending. She was torn about it, but knew she had to make that decision. She had to protect herself.

“Hey…Aiden. Oh you aren’t somewhere getting drunk? I’m surprised you are still alive to be frank, you drank like what 2 bottles of firewhiskey a day? Being in this hospital I have seen what happens to someone after all of that.” She knew that her greeting was snippy, but she couldn’t let her guard down yet. She wasn’t going to let herself be attacked where she worked, it wasn’t gonna happen. She breezed by him and starting filling out some prescriptions behind the counter.

The encounter was almost too perfect and was playing out like one of his many day dream fantasies. In his thoughts he planned himself being at the hospital when all of a sudden Leilani would just appear out of nowhere looking as beautiful as she did all those years ago and she would dive into his arms, forgive them for everything and they’d pick up where they left off before Aiden had become such a jerk.

And she was still beautiful too. She was a bit taller than he remembered, and her hair was a bit frazzled and longer in length, but her soft skin was still so radiant and tempting along with her piercing blue eyes and pink bubble gum lips. If Aiden had still been a horny teenager, he might have drooled, but he was a man now. A man who if given the opportunity would show that he had changed and tell the girl he loved that he could be all she missed and wanted, but it always took too.

Back in the days where the world was right, his mom was still even the tiniest bit sane and when Aiden still wore a Hogwarts uniform, nothing could keep him and Leilani apart. Not the fact that his sister had been her best friend, not that his father hated her with a passion because of her father, and not the fact that Aiden was an awkward oaf who barely knew how to kiss a girl. That took some practice, but he was sure Leilani would tell that he was much better after several years.

Besides Leilani being his first kiss, she was also his first lover. In fact, his only lover in all his 20 years. He blushed when he thought back to it. They had just gotten back from a Quidditch party down at the Lake and both of them were slightly tipsy. Leilani never really got into drinking and really only did it because Aiden was, and that was around the time he started getting bad. He remembered them just lying on his bed back at home as they sung silly songs to each other in the moonlight that shone through his window. Then it just happened, and it was innocent and beautiful and anything anyone could ever have wanted in such an intimate moment. That night Aiden couldn’t sleep and simply played with Leilani’s hair all night as she slept.

Aiden never forgot that night, even to this day and now he was standing in front of her, his one and only love, and he felt hope. Hope that maybe she could bring the light back into his life. Hope that he could be happy again, but apparently, she didn’t think so.

>>“Hey…Aiden. Oh you aren’t somewhere getting drunk? I’m surprised you are still alive to be frank, you drank like what 2 bottles of firewhiskey a day? Being in this hospital I have seen what happens to someone after all of that.”

Aiden sighed heavily and pursed his lips, the smile and hope running right off his face. He stammered.

“Yeah..umm..not tonight. I don’t really drink anymore really.”

He nodded and could have hit himself. What did he think she would say? After how horrible he had been he deserved a slap across the face, but Leilani was the smart verbal type, he knew that.

This really did kill her. She wanted more than anything to just drop everything from their past and just kiss him like they used to kiss. The way they kissed…it was not for the breathing challenged. They surprisingly had amazing lung capacity. And the times they spent together were made up of amazing talks and even more amazing kissing sessions. To be honest, she would give anything to feel his soft lips on hers again.

She realized while thinking about this, that she was staring at his lips. They were just too perfect. She remembered how cute they were after their half-hour kissing sessions all swollen and whatnot. It drove her crazy, it really did.

Aiden looked so much older. It suited him well. He wasn’t the little kid she remembered, with the teenage boy hormones swimming throughout. When they were younger they never were able to spend all of this time without touching. Chances were, by this time a few years ago they would be on their way to find a private space to finish their time together without interruption.

Aiden hated it when they got interrupted. He would always get so huffy and started acting like a little kid. Leilani pretended that she was annoyed by it, but it was so damn cute. She just wanted to be with him again. She could never say this aloud, but it was true. She needed him and she knew deep down or maybe not even that deep, he needed her.

She decided to test her hypothesis and got dangerously close to him. There was probably about four inches between them but she was close enough where she could hear him breathing. Really? You quit? That’s really good Aiden… She said in her soft timid voice she used, that she knew drove him crazy. She loved playing around with him. It was fun.

>> Really? You quit? That’s really good Aiden…

Aiden could have groaned out loud if he hadn’t caught himself. There was always something about the way she spoke, that soft, sweet, good girl tone that drove him crazy and pushed him over the edge. She knew it too, but she was an excellent actress. She made him want a drink right about now, that or a cigarette, but he wouldn’t tell her about that. Aiden figured that way back when that Leilani hated his smoking more than his drinking. She used to inform him that the horrid smell of drinking went away after some sleep and a shower, but the equally as horrible smell of smoke didn’t. It broke his heart to recall the day she had denied him a kiss after he was fresh off a smoke, but at least he wasn’t a jerk after a drag or two.

He nodded.

“Yeah I just uhh…can’t afford that you know? I’m not one that can keep a clear head when I’m all fogged up like that, and I…have responsibilities now you know?”

He knew she’d like him saying that, even though he figured she probably already knew. After he and Leilani had broken up, Aiden felt a bit betrayed by his sister to find out that she and Leilani were chummy again. Then again it had bothered him when they stopped being friends too. Fiona told him that he couldn’t make up his mind and was being an ass, and he figured, back then, he probably was.

Deep down though, Aiden was a bit embarrassed by the fact that Leilani might know everything that was going on. Granted Leilani had known the Lockes for years, and was always around to see Ana when they were younger, despite Leonardo’s obvious distain for her, but Aiden still wasn’t proud to have such a wacked up mother, and like he had told Leilani before, the guilt always just drove him crazy. If only he could explain that that had been the reason he had been messed up for so long.

Aiden never had a good relationship with Leonardo, who seemed to prefer Fiona over him every time and he had always felt like an outsider in the family. He was ecstatic when he found out he would have a mortal little brother, but he turned out to like Fiona more too. It was like Aiden was always the stranger, and he felt it. Then, the only person who ever showed him constant love, his mother, went crazy at his expense, his father couldn’t take care of her for shit so Aiden had to do it, only straining their relationship, and on top of everything, he lost the girl because he was taking it all out on her. Some prince he turned out to be. He was more like the evil twin brother.

He looked back at her, counting all the moments they had flown over Hogwarts together on his broom, and partied down at the Lake, and traveled down to Hogsmeade on cold winter days, snuggling up to each to keep warm. That kind of feeling didn’t just disappear as soon as the relationship ended and Aiden felt that. Even now he was tempted to lean in and whisper in his ear and kiss her nose, just like he used to. He wanted to be the prince again, deep down he knew it was his nature and that he could be everything she needed.

He motioned to her uniform as he stepped ahead in line.

“I knew you’d be a nurse. The uniform looks good…on you.”

He swallowed and sighed lightly. Trying to show no emotion was usually easy for Aiden, but his blood usually didn’t boil like this.

There was a clicking in the hallway as a very large Fiona Charlotte Locke made her way down the corridor of St. Mungo's. Fiona was nearly five and a half months pregnant with her baby, whom she now knew was a girl, thanks to her friend, Leilani Harrington, who was the sole person that Fiona trusted to take care of her and her baby when she was pregnant. It was funny how she had been so small just a month or two ago, so small that she could easily hide her baby bump behind bulky sweaters or strategically placed items, but now she looked like she was trying to smuggle a beach ball underneath her shirt. She hated not being able to fit into anything anymore, but Leilani had charmed her shirts and pants to fit her perfectly as she grew.

Leilani and Fiona had been best friends from the moment they had met on the train to Hogwarts in their first year. Fiona had been a little older than the other girl, but that was just because her birthday fell at a funny time. Right in the middle of the summer. The year before she had been too young to go, but now she was just a little too old. Fiona had slid open the door to one of the compartments, and a younger girl, with strikingly blue eyes and brown hair had been sitting there, poring over a book. Fiona had sat down next to her, putting her owl's cage on the seat across from them, and had struck up a conversation. The rest was history.

Well, actually, the story wasn't so neat and tidy. The two girls were inseparable for the next two or three years, constantly writing to each other over the summer and going over each others' houses. It helped that they were in the same house and the same dormitory. Aiden hadn't liked her very much at first, but after a while, it became apparent that he had a crush on Leilani. Then, somehow, Aiden had wormed his way between the two of them, becoming Leilani's new best friend and leaving Fiona out in the cold. She could honestly say that while the two of them had remained close, that had been the first crack in their relationship.

Fiona stopped talking to Leilani completely, and had even stopped mentioning her name when she and Aiden began to date. Sure, she had been forced to say something to her, since she was dating her twin, but it was always grudgingly. Fiona would have much rather just ignored her and pretended that she didn't exist. She wasn't mad as Leilani as she was at Aiden. Leilani had been her first best friend, her first person that she could totally trust that wasn't related to her. They had had a special friendship, but Aiden had bungled it all by being his stupid self. It was notorious that Fiona didn't like to share, but this was beyond sharing. Aiden had just taken over their whole friendship.

For the next five years, Leilani had gone her way, and Fiona had gone the other way. Their only common factor anymore was Aiden. It figured that around the time that the two girls had started to talk again, Aiden and Leilani broke up again. Out of loyalty to her brother, Fiona had again stopped talking to her, but it sucked. While Fiona was somewhat popular in Hogwarts for being so outgoing and whacky, it was still hard for her to find a best friend. She thought she had found it a few times, and especially in a boy named Sebastian, but it never lasted long at all. Leilani was her longest friend, and that was just sad, now that she thought about it.

But when Fiona had found out that she was pregnant, she had gone ahead and made arrangements at St. Mungo's so that she could find out what was going on. Surprise, surprise, her Healer had been none other than Leilani Harrington. After a few moments of uncomfortable conversation, the girls soon fell back into their old friendship from seven years ago. They routinely hung out now, but Aiden didn't know about it. Fiona, much as her and her brother weren't close now, still felt bad about the whole thing. She didn't want to rub it in his face that she was friends with his first and only love. That would be if he had started getting chummy with Sebastian again.

Ever since they had met, Fiona had been going for weekly visits at St. Mungo's. She wanted little Juliana Stacey (She had finally decided on that name) to be in the perfect health. She also had a question to ask of Leilani; she wanted the girl to be Juliana's godmother. She had been wracking her brains over this for months, and there was really no one more perfect than her best friend again. They had always promised that when they had children, they would be each other's godmothers. Which was why she was there at the hospital today, to go and ask Leilani. Their appointment wasn't actually for another four or five days, but she didn't want to wait that long.

>> "I knew you’d be a nurse. The uniform looks good…on you."

Fiona's mouth dropped open as she heard a familiar voice. Aiden. Her twin was at the hospital, and, as she heard a tinkling laugh and her heart sank, he was clearly complimenting Leilani. This wasn't fair. She was starting to get close to the other girl again, and here came Aiden, messing it up again. To be fair, he had no idea that she was even friends with Leilani again, but dammit, he had to ruin everything! Fiona took a breath, went around the corner, and stood by Leilani, shorter than her by a good four or five inches. "Hey, Lei," she said, smiling. "Oh, Aiden! Hey! What's up?" She hadn't seen him in a few weeks, so her surprised look came off perfectly.

Leilani had to force herself to look into Aiden’s eyes. It was hard though. She was always distracted by his smile. Those dimples could make her happy any day. His lips, were perfect. They were extremely soft…and just absolutely amazing. She managed to keep his gaze with hers but then found herself getting lost in his chocolate brown eyes. They weren’t like any other eyes though, and she would know she saw a lot of them lately. She saw webs that resembled spider webs. It was intoxicating. She could swear that she could see right into his soul.

She knew everything about him. That made it easier for her to know what he was feeling like. It was this incredible sense of women’s intuition. It was intimidating, she wasn’t going to lie. She felt this strong connection to them when they were dating. And even now, they have only been talking for about five minutes and she could already feel what she felt when they were dating. This was just the weird emotional circle that she wished could end.

When they were broken up, Leilani thought about him constantly. The only reason why she broke up with him was because he was becoming annoyingly rebellious. The drinking…the smoking…she couldn’t handle it, she wouldn’t. But the feelings were still there. There was a very strong chance that they never died out.

Honestly, she wanted nothing more than to pick things up where they left off. But that was very naïve of her. There were conversations to be had, bonds to be rekindled, it would take time. It just so happened that Leilani had that time readily available. She just hoped she would be susceptible for her feelings. He used to be good like that. He used to know what she wanted even before she did. It was scary, but it felt right with him. There relationship was just funny like that.

She blushed and smiled. “Um, thanks…I think?” She laughed nervously as many thoughts went through her mind. Since when was she nervous around Aiden? Her Aiden? It never happened. Oh, God, this was just another reminder at the toll their time apart took on them.

She looked up and saw her very pregnant friend, Fiona. “Fiona! Hey! Wow, you have gotten bigger since I last seen you! But that’s a good thing. I promise.” She smiled and gave her friend a hug. She knew that Fiona didn’t really approve of Aiden and Leilani. But they were both such a big part of her lives. They were the only ones who knew every aspect of Leilani’s life. She wanted to keep it that way.

The clique ‘so close yet so far away’ fit Aiden’s present situation perfectly. It would be so easy to just reach out and touch Leilani, sweeping her into his arms and carrying her around the way he used to, but at the same time there seemed to be this thick wall between them with its own guard and everything, Aiden was almost thankful for it though, it kept his emotions at bay.

While she seemed to be focused on something else, Aiden was swimming in Leilani’s blue, cyan eyes. They were breath taking, and brought him back 5 years when he, Fiona and his friends played music at a party for the first time. It was in the beginning of his fifth year when he and Leilani were hot and heavy as ever. Aiden picked up a guitar while Fiona ripped on the drums, and he made his way over to his sweet beau. Strumming along, he sang to her.

Well, I took a stroll on the old long walk
Of a day -I-ay-I-ay
I met a little girl and we stopped to talk
Of a fine soft day -I-ay-I-ay
And I ask you, friend, what's a fella to do
'Cause her hair was black and her eyes were blue
And I knew right then I'd be takin' a whirl
'Round the Salthill Prom with a Galway girl

She’d swoon every time he sang or played guitar, he was quite good at both, so he did as much as he could. Even though Aiden did love music and came from a musical family (his father played guitar, his mother sang, he and his siblings all knew how ot play at least one or two instruments), he hadn’t played for a while. It seemed like every time he went to go play something, it sounded sad and reminded him of sad times, causing him to leave music behind. He did catch himself singing ‘Galway Girl’ from time to time though.

>>“Um, thanks…I think?”

Aiden chuckled and ran a hand through his dark hair. He cleared his throat.

“It was supposed to be a compliment. I’m just glad you’re doing what you love.”

He nodded, and found himself shiver. Typically he got a shiver down his spine when he was a little nervous, but that hadn’t happened in years. Not since he had probably asked Leilani out the first time. It made him think that maybe she renewed his innocence.

Aiden almost choked on himself as he heard Leilani addressing Fiona, and Fiona’s voice rounding the corner. Crap, he thought. Fiona never was happy about him and Leilani’s relationship. She always felt like he had stolen something from her, even though he and Leilani both were willing to stay close with Fiona, but no, she didn’t share well. He knew that from prior experience.

>>"Oh, Aiden! Hey! What's up?"

Aiden smiled back at his sister and nodded her.

“Hello Fi. You look...”

Aiden scanned her over, not having seen her in several weeks. His eyes almost popped out of his head. He had seen her maybe just 2 or 3 weeks ago and she barely had a stomach and now, not even a month later, she looked like she was hiding a beach ball from the pool adviser.

“Wow. You’re moving right along huh?”

Aiden bit the side of his lip and began to wonder. How was Fiona doing with her stomach out like that? Was work beginning to get hard for her? Was she okay living alone at the moment? Ever since he had started caring for Ana more closely, Aiden was worried about everyone and how they were doing, and Fiona, his twin and closest friend was no different.

“You coming along okay?”

Fiona knew that when Aiden and Leilani had started to date, they easily could have all remained friends, but there was just something about the whole ordeal that made her uneasy, made her feel like there was no way they could all be friends and still have a relationship within their group. She wasn't trying to be selfish, but part of her told her that it wasn't fair that Aiden had to go and take her first real friend away from her. Leilani, she thought, rather territorially, was hers. She was not Aiden's. Aiden was just her stupid brother that followed her around because he couldn't get his own friends, and he had to steal away hers.

Then, on the other hand, Fiona felt guilty for being in the picture at all. Of course, if she hadn't met Leilani first and introduced her to Aiden, the two of them wouldn't have gotten together. But when they had, she constantly felt like a third wheel. It wasn't like she had just stopped talking to her the moment she had accepted Aiden's offer of a date; it was more like they had tried for perhaps a week or so, before Fiona, with a sigh, realized that things just weren't going to be the same, and decided to travel down a different path. She wasn't sure how her life would have turned out if Aiden had just left Leilani alone, but she probably wouldn't have been pregnant.

For some reason, she always imagined that if Leilani were still around, she could have stopped Fiona from doing that one stupid thing and then getting pregnant. It wasn't the actual being pregnant part that she thought was stupid, it was just that she had totally given herself away to someone that could have easily betrayed her in the next moment. But, no, Talon wouldn't have done something like that. No, he was far too genuine and broken to do something like that. Broken described the both of them, and when they were put together, they almost made a whole. There were still a few chips and cracks, but those could be easily sanded away over time.

>> "Fiona! Hey! Wow, you have gotten bigger since I last seen you! But that’s a good thing. I promise."

Fiona sighed, one hand on her huge stomach. In all reality, her stomach wasn't even as big as some other peoples', but she had been so used to having a tiny one that now it was weird to finally look down and realize that her feet were missing. "I haven't been able to see my feet for a week now," she announced, trying to twist and turn her body so that she could at least catch a glimpse of them, shoved into red Converse that matched the red shirt she was wearing that day. If Leilani hadn't known that nifty charm to make her clothes expand, she would have been out of luck, since all of them were a size four, and she had magically transformed into a size ten overnight.

>> "You coming along okay?"

Fiona waved a hand at Aiden's questions. She had never been the type of girl who would give up just because something like having a baby would get in her way. Well, she had never been pregnant before, so perhaps the more appropriate statement would be that she had just never given up, because she was still at the store everyday, putting up new boxes and things, except now she had to enlist Doug's help for getting the heavier ones up. She figured that when Juliana was born, she was going to have to give the store over to him, no matter how much that would hurt her. She needed to take care of her baby, not a store that wasn't even technically hers.

"So, the reason I'm here today, so early," Fiona started, turning to Leilani, her back now to Aiden. "Is that I have something to ask you, Miss Harrington." Fiona grinned, her wide smile with the slightly crooked teeth in the front that reminded her so much of her father. "Now, feel free to say no to this, honestly, but I was wondering if you'd like to be Juliana's godmother?" They had only been talking for a few weeks now, but she still couldn't think of anyone more perfect that Leilani. Provided her and Aiden didn't run off and get married, she would be an excellent godmother. Fiona hooked a thumb over her shoulder towards Aiden. "Oh, yeah, and he's the godfather. I was thinking Doug, but Doug thought Aiden would be better since he's my twin and all. Eh."

Leilani had to put her current urges to just kiss the living shit out of Aiden down. It was extremely hard. The effect Aiden had on Leilani was that of a Veela on a man. It was horrible, but it was there. She always had to make sure she thought everything out when it came to Aiden. It was so easy for her to agree to anything he sais. His voice was so…sexy. It was even sexier when he was singing to her by the campfire or whispering to her. Her mind spun like crazy. At least that made it easier for her to pay attention to what he way saying.

Aiden made it physically and emotionally impossible to not stare at him. The way he looked at this age…made Leilani go crazy to say the absolute least. He had a clean face. His teeth were extremely white, it was blinding at times. His blue-green eyes were like little mini lakes. His hair always looked like he just had sex. That. Was. So. Hot. She remembered all the times she wondered what it looked like after they really did have sex. After they really did have sex it looked much better. Partially because she knew that she did that to him.

Then Aiden ran his hand through his hair and she had to literally pinch her side to make sure she didn’t run her won hand through his soft, brown locks.

“Oh..well thanks. I love it.” Of course you love it you doof! That’s what he just said! “I mean…yeah I do love it.” She turned her head back to Fiona to hide her blush. She secretly wished that her friend wouldn’t point out the sudden change in complexion.

Her smile grew when Aiden brought up how big his sister was getting.

“I personally think that it fit you Fi. You look hot girl!” She laughed. But it was true. Fiona was absolutely glowing. Every time she saw Fiona, even if she was in pain, she was always smiling. Her wobble was also particularly fun to watch. But she would never admit it…at least not to Fiona. Despite the fact that she hated the fact that Fiona got betrayed after getting pregnant, she loved pregnant Fiona. There was this motherly instinct that was coming out of her that was infectious.

She was honestly and truly happy that they had become friends again. Fiona was the only one who got Leilani through her first year. She would have legit spontaneously combusted without the help of her bestie. And yes, Leilani was the type of person to use the terms legit and bestie.

“Haha, I think that’s a normal thing. I would be scared if you couldn’t! Very cute converses though. Are they new? And Fi…you know I love you…but you look like a tomato! But I swear you look like a very cute and sexy tomato!” It was quite funny and cute at the same time. Her orange-like hair with her red shirt and red shoes made her look like a tomato!

“Ooh, you called me Miss Harrington…should I sit down for this Miss Locke?”
She laughed and beamed.

She was seriously glad she was in a hospital. She thought that she either misheard Fiona, had a hallucination, or a mixture of both. “You want me to be her godmother? I mean really?” She paused for a little not saying anything but then she approached her friend and hugged her, making sure not to squeeze too hard. She succeeded…fairly. “I would love to! Really I would! Thank you so much Fiona! I’m honored!” She was surprised that she didn’t ask one of her sisters. But she wasn’t about to ask about it. This was finally a sign that they had gotten back on the right track. She turned to look at Aiden and smiled “Cool.” She stared for a second longer than necessary but then looked back to Fiona.

For on lookers, the conversation between Aiden, Leilani and Fiona must have been very uncomfortable to watch. The sexual tension that brewed between Aiden and Lei was so strong that it almost cast heat waves in the air, and Fiona’s obvious disdain for this was just as tangible. In between awkward exchanges of greetings, Aiden was bumped in line, people behind him pushing for him to move forward. Every time he’d look down sheepishly and allow yet another person in front of him, forgetting that the medication needed to get to Ana for morning. That was another reason Aiden had fallen so hard for Leilani not long ago. Just her presence was enough to shake him of all responsibility and made him feel like he needed to be more of all the good things: kind, patient, loving, and yet she made him feel like he need not change at all. Love was so confusing.

The way she looked made Aiden wish he had worn something a little more formal. Right now he was dressed in dark jeans, with an untucked white, relaxed oxford and a casual black coat, with his normal black converse. He didn’t look bad in the least, but for such an occasion as this, he felt as though he should have at least tucked his shirt in and maybe put on his leather coat instead. He always wanted to make an impression on Leilani, even if it wasn’t a huge one. As he ran a hand through his hair, a typical Aiden habit, he caught sight of Lei’s large blue eyes. She was watching him fondly and he prayed to God that in front of Fiona he wouldn’t blush.

>>“Oh..well thanks. I love it.”

He nodded with a small smile.

“Good.”

Well, he thought, this isn’t awkward at all. He looked back to Fiona who was now taking the stage and conversing with Lei, ignoring Aiden completely, a typical Fiona habit. Looking back to the medicine desk, Aiden inched forward in like yet again, hoping to avoid getting bumped by anyone. He wasn’t a patient person to begin with, but add in his beautiful ex-girlfriend, his pregnant sister, and the lack of a drag for quite some time, and you got back a very, very grumpy Aiden, at least when provoked.

Aiden observed his sister as she continued to chat with Lei. She reminded Aiden dangerously of their mother, whom Aiden remembered was just as large around the time she was pregnant with Doug. She and Fiona shared the same body shape for the most part, and the face shape, but the good majority of her facial features were their fathers. Aiden wasn’t quite sure who he looked like to be honest. He had his mother’s hair color and his father’s eyes he supposed, but past that he never paid attention. He was tall, obviously, but both of his grandfathers had been too.

>>"So, the reason I'm here today, so early is that I have something to ask you, Miss Harrington. Now, feel free to say no to this, honestly, but I was wondering if you'd like to be Juliana's godmother?

Aiden’s eyes widened at his sister and a smile spread across his face. The smile was genuine, but it was primarily there to hide his shock and surprise. He was very aware that Fiona and Lei had been very close back in school, but how long had they been talking since he and Lei had been broken up for Fiona to give her this huge honor? It didn’t bother Aiden to know his sister was talking to his ex-girlfriend behind his back...a lot. He really couldn’t be, seeing as they had been friends before he and Lei got together, but between talking to Lei behind his back and seeing Talon and getting pregnant, he was bothered deeply with the fact that he and Fiona had gotten so strained. What had happened? They were twins, they were best friends, and they used to be so close.

Fiona pointed to him.

>>"Oh, yeah, and he's the godfather. I was thinking Doug, but Doug thought Aiden would be better since he's my twin and all. Eh."

Aiden rolled his eyes and took another step forward in line.

“Thanks Fi.”

Aiden hadn’t put up any kind of fight to be the godfather of Fiona’s baby, even though he was secretly hoping she’d ask him. He did of course take care of their mother and because of that, he figured he could care for a baby. Fiona probably wouldn’t have an infant for too long anyway, seeing as werewolves develop so much faster. Still, Aiden wasn’t incredibly insulted when she asked Doug, and deep inside he had expected it. They were reasonably close; Fiona had taken care of Doug when mom couldn’t and they had a special bond, but sometimes Aiden just really missed his sister, and he wondered, was it too late to get their old relationship back? Or would the effort be too little, too late? He hoped not; after all, weren’t’ families supposed to stick together?

Fiona didn't understand how they, three people who had been unfortunately born just twenty years ago (Nineteen for Leilani, but her birthday was coming up soon enough) had to live through this torture. Not only was their world slowly crumbling around them, but it was crumbling in the worst possible way. People were being murdered every single day, Death Eaters were out on the streets trying to take away anyone they suspected of having Muggle blood in them at all, and Leilani was probably seeing the absolute worst of it all here in St. Mungo's.

She wrinkled her nose, her abnormally acute sense of smell alerting her to the sickness and blood that lay all around her - something that she tried to squash down whenever she entered the hospital, but it usually only worked for the first few minutes before it became too powerful to ignore. There was no way she could have ever taken a job like this, or one like Aiden had. Being around people so broken, both physically and mentally, had to be draining. No, she was perfectly happy taking over the twins' store and playing around with new charms and spells.

She sighed, looking down at her stomach, and then glancing around to see if she could find a chair anywhere. There wasn't one in sight, unfortunately, so she settled for sitting on an abandoned gurney in the middle of the hallway right next to Leilani. No doubt there had been someone in there before her, probably someone that Leilani had been checking, but her feet were killing her, and she desperately needed to sit down as she finished this conversation.

>> "Ooh, you called me Miss Harrington…should I sit down for this Miss Locke?"

Fiona had to shake her head at Leilani's sarcasm. From just looking at the girl, no one would ever suspect what really lay underneath her misleading exterior. From the outside, with her slight stature, big, blue eyes and wavy chestnut hair that sometimes hid her face from view, one would reach the conclusion that Leilani was probably shy, or didn't like to be around people all that much. Boy, were they wrong. She was probably more outspoken than Fiona at times, and nearly as daring. She could definitely hold her own in any contest.

>> 'I would love to! Really I would! Thank you so much Fiona! I’m honored!"

>> "Thanks Fi."

Fiona rolled her eyes right back at her twin brother. "Oh, Aiden, seriously, don't sound so excited. Really. I'm only letting you be an integral part of a child's life. No big deal." She accepted the hug from Leilani with a grin, though. "I figured you might love it, Lei. I mean, honestly, who else would I hand Juliana off to when I want to go out somewhere? If I left her with Aiden, I might come back to a baby with one less arm or something." She stuck her tongue out at her brother behind Leilani's back.

Leilani had quickly forgotten the girl in the Nurse’s Room. She really did need to check on her, and then check out Fiona and see how she is doing. But she couldn’t bear to leave Aiden’s side. It felt too much like the old times. And those were some damn good old times. She noticed how many people were going in front of Aiden and laughed.

Aiden, you have to get your mom’s meds. You let two girls distract you. Tsk.Tsk.

That was absolutely horrible and she knew it. She was such a big tease, but luckily for her she enjoyed it. She just had no self-control once she started. That’s why she couldn’t stop now that Fiona was here. She looked suggestively towards Aiden then looked back at Fiona.

Now Miss Locke, I do believe you have a doctor’s appointment with me that starts at 2:30 and it is already 2:25.

Lei felt absolutely ecstatic. She was asked as soon as Fiona found out she was pregnant to be her attending with her pregnancy. Now she was asked to be Juliana’s godmother. She never honestly thought that she would have ever had a friendship where it progressed to this. Leilani was ultimately sure that when she got married, Fiona would be her maid of honor. When she had her first child, Fiona would be the godmother. Fiona was the first one to really get Leilani, and she treasured that. She hated the time they were apart, but she was putting it behind her as they met more and more often.

Leilani felt her pager beep attached to her pants. She looked at it quickly and looked up at both of them.

So I have a patient that is seizing right now and I need to go help her. But I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner right after your appointment, Fiona.

She was going to ask Aiden, but that would have been a little too awkward for the doctor. She really hoped that he wouldn’t take it the wrong way. She wanted to hang out with him as well, but she had plans earlier in the day to ask Fiona after her appointment.

>>Aiden, you have to get your mom’s meds. You let two girls distract you. Tsk.Tsk.

Aiden turned his gaze to Leilani and a smirk slowly crept onto his face. With that smirk his dimples made an appearance and his eyes danced in the light as he stepped forward in line, keeping his sights on Lei the whole time.

She was such a horrible tease, had such an awful way of toying with him, but also had a terrible desire for him as well. Leilani didn’t play with those she didn’t want, he knew, and he just didn’t smile at any girl who walked by him either. Aiden felt incredibly warm at the moment, enough to nonchalantly shrug off his jacket to expose his white oxford. It hugged him nicely on his chest and shoulders which had been perfectly toned for as long as he could remember. No one in the Locke family could ever be fat, even the girls were perfectly fit and Fiona and his mother, when she was healthier, always had six packs.

“I know, I should be grabbing this and heading off…”

He looked to his sister, running his eyes over her again. He remembered that for so long they both had taken care of their younger siblings, who Ana really didn’t have to capacity for and Leo, who didn’t have the time and Aiden knew that Fiona would be a perfectly good mother. He was never sure about if he wanted kids or not, fearing that the same thing that happened to Ana would happen to him, but he was extremely excited about the upcoming birth of his niece. Aiden knew he’d be the type of uncle to spoil Juliana rotten and he would never be able to say no to anything she asked him for. Everyone in the family would probably be the same, they all loved kids.

To some extent though, Aiden felt sad for the unborn child, who would never get a chance at a real normal childhood. Between the war, and Ana, and the threat to werewolves, Aiden feared she’d always be afraid, always worry about the others in her life, and Aiden didn’t want that for her. He wanted her to have everything he and his siblings never had, whether it was possessions, or family, or freedom. He wanted her to be carefree and happy, like a kid should be. Was that too much to hope for?

>>"Oh, Aiden, seriously, don't sound so excited. Really. I'm only letting you be an integral part of a child's life. No big deal."

He smiled at Fiona and nudged her reassuringly before hopping back in line, and cooing at her.

“Shut up, you know I’m psyched.”

Everyone knew he was psyched, even if he didn’t say it. He bounced a little bit when he walked now, and had lists everywhere of gift ideas for her and places he wanted to take her when she was old enough and different things he wanted to teach her. He was gonna be the best uncle ever.

>>"I figured you might love it, Lei. I mean, honestly, who else would I hand Juliana off to when I want to go out somewhere? If I left her with Aiden, I might come back to a baby with one less arm or something."

Aiden returned Fiona’s gesture with his own tongue and stepped ahead in line, only 3 people away from the counter. He wondered if she joked to joke, or joked because she knew he was more afraid of that than anything. Everyone figured that Juliana would be a werewolf because of Fiona, but that still didn’t take the fear of his own beastly instincts from Aiden. He fought his hardest to control himself when he had to, but it was hard and he was afraid that someday he might slip, and he’d never forgive himself if something happened to Juliana.

>>Now Miss Locke, I do believe you have a doctor’s appointment with me that starts at 2:30 and it is already 2:25. So I have a patient that is seizing right now and I need to go help her. But I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner right after your appointment, Fiona.

Aiden stepped forward in line again, still looking back to Fiona. He knew she’d accept Lei’s dinner invitation, seeing as they were buddy-buddy now. It did bother him a bit, but he wouldn’t bring it up. He didn’t want to cause Fiona any stress that she didn’t need during her pregnancy. Aiden smiled back to Lei as he took one final step in line, finally at the window. He put the prescription down on the counter, before turning back to Leilani. The pharmacist greeted Aiden with a smile, he knew him well.

“Well, I gotta to do this so um…”

Before he could finish, the man behind the counter dropped a bag next to Aiden’s hand and Aiden dug into his pocket for his wallet. Placing down the right amount, he smiled, thanked the man and grabbed the bag before going back over to Fiona and Lei. He looked to Fiona.

“I will see you at home later, and I…”

He remained silent as he looked at Leilani. He had no idea what to say in that moment to her, the girl he loved, the one who knew him best. He didn’t know how to say goodbye. He shrugged lightly.

“I’ll see you around I guess.”

Aiden nodded, and thought, what now? Did he kiss her on the cheek? Did he hug her? Shake her hand? He didn’t know, but he couldn’t just stand there like an idiot. He smiled to her, departing with a light breath.

“Goodbye.”

Aiden looked down as he turned around and walked down the hall, never looking up once as he exited the hospital. When he arrived outside, he looked up at the night sky. A cold breeze blew around him and caressed his face, and he felt overwhelmingly lost and confused. Aiden shoved the pill bag into his coat pocket and took a package of cigarettes out of his back pocket. He took one out, popped it in his mouth and lit it with a lighter and then put the box back where it was before.

Instead of apparating right home, Aiden walked down a long road, breathing in the fresh air from the country and smoke from his poison. Even back when they were together, Aiden could never just say goodbye and walk away without her staying on his mind. She was a drug herself, the worst kind too. It was the kind that hurt his head and then took the pain away, one that made him stomach flip all the time, and one that drove him to think and feel, something he didn’t want to do much anymore. The only things about this drug, was that he needed it.

With that last thought, Aiden tossed the cigarette on the ground and put it out with his shoe, before disappearing into the air, set for home.

There were so many things about having a baby that scared Fiona. One was that it was bound to hurt like mad - Leilani, although she had tried to lie to Fiona at first, had finally admitted that yes, it would hurt, but there would be drugs there, and if Fiona needed them, she could have them. Part of her wanted to be awake for when Juliana was born, and the other part of her was like 'Put me down! Put me down to sleep as soon as I get to the hospital!' Fiona had never been good at handling pain, despite her practice over years of becoming a werewolf. For some reason, during the time that she was pregnant, she hadn't changed at all. Maybe it was her body's way of making sure that nothing happened to the baby.

Another thing that Fiona was afraid of was that she wasn't going to be able to give the baby all that it needed. She wasn't rich, she worked in a basically abandoned shop, and Juliana's father wasn't around. He was a Death Eater, and if Voldemort ever found out that Juliana was his baby, not only would Talon most likely die, so would Fiona and Juliana. She knew that her family was going to help her, that they would always be there for her, but it wasn't the same as having Talon there. He reassured her, he made her feel safe. Once upon a time, someone like him probably would have made her feel more scared than anything in the entire world, but he truly didn't want to be a Death Eater, and he truly wanted to make a better man out of himself.

>> "Now Miss Locke, I do believe you have a doctor’s appointment with me that starts at 2:30 and it is already 2:25."

Fiona stuck her tongue out at Leilani this time. "I don't want to go!" She crossed her arms, looking much like a petulant child. The hormones had definitely been messing around with her body, and she felt more like a kid every single day. Just that morning, when Aiden had come to get her out of bed (She was finding herself sleeping a lot more too, but Leilani assured her that was common), she had hit him almost hard enough to knock him through the wall into the room next door. Then, using a few choice swear words, she had told him not to come back unless he had breakfast ready for her. And if he did, by some miracle, manage to make breakfast without killing himself, there had to be pancakes.

>> "Shut up, you know I’m psyched."

Fiona made a face at her brother. "If you're going to coo like that at my child, I don't know if I can leave her alone with you in good conscience. You sound like a rapist, Aid." Ah, the nickname that had come back after so long! Aiden had hated when people would call him that back in school - before Hogwarts had been nearly blown up, of course. Kids used to tease him because his name was technically spelled wrong. Aiden was normally spelled with an 'a,' making it Aidan, but when he had brought it up to Leonardo, he had only told him that Ana liked it better with the 'e'. Then he resumed his efforts to get a naked Ana off of the chandelier, to no avail.

>> "So I have a patient that is seizing right now and I need to go help her. But I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner right after your appointment, Fiona."

"Ooh, that sounds bad. Seizing," Fiona murmured, biting down on her lip, then tugging the top of her ear with one hand. She nodded her head. "Yeah, I think I can manage that. I'm always hungry, so expect me to clear out the restaurant." She smiled at Leilani, before turning to Aiden, who was already on his way out. "Aiden, wait!" she called after him, maneuvering herself off of the gurney and then toddling after him down the hallway. The effort of it made her pant as soon as she slowed down, and she had to hold onto her brother so that she wouldn't fall down. It sucked that she, who used to be so healthy and able to run all over the place in a matter of moments, thanks to her werewolf genes, now couldn't go down the hallway without exerting herself.

When Fiona had finally regained her breath, she stood up, straightening Aiden's coat lapels, and smiling at him. "So, uh, have a nice trip home," she finally said, unsure of why she had chased her brother down. "And, uh, do me a favor, and feed Aiden Junior when you get home?" There was a pleading look in her bright blue eyes, something that she couldn't herself place, but she leaned up on her tiptoes and kissed Aiden's cheek, before waving, and disappearing into one of the many rooms lining the hallway to wait for Leilani to come back and start her examination.
