I spy with my little cyber eye...the beginnings of a plot. NO WAIZ, you saiz? Well, yes waiz. If your character be hopping into the past, check out An Old Beginning. If your character is fraternizing with the future, feel free to glomp into A New End. Happy time-traveling, and please do not feed the dimensional ducklings on your way through the continuum. Thank you!

Jean was in a stage of complete shock. One, Dawn was standing right in front of her; alive. Two, Cal was apparently in Azkaban which was the last place she would ever expect him to be. Three, he got his wedding. And a bunch of kids along with that. Fourth, she got married. At this point she was astounded by that fact. but what surprised her the most is she had seven kids, SEVEN! She loved the names. Her heart cringed a touch when she found out her eldest died. Even though she didn't know the children, it still pained her to hear the news. She just stood there in shock listening to her friends futures. Then she found out that Dawn herself had children of her own. "So...I'm a mom, a wife...and an aunt?" She asked quietly looking to the ground. This was a lot to take in all at one time. She wanted to be happy, sad, confused, and angry all at the same time.

Cal frowned as Dawn spoke. His oldest son had died? Noah, had she said? And now he was in Azkaban. Jean's son had died, as well? He kept a tally in his head. As the names and the people zoomed by, he found out that the only family who hadn't been affected had been Dawn's herself. He glared at the ground. What had happened that would make it so her family would get off safe? Had Rhys become a big shot in the Ministry, free to save himself and his little brood, but not anyone else's? "I don't believe you," Cal said stubbornly. This was not his future. His future was full of his friends and Bella and lots of little babies and happiness. This was just crap. An awful future dealt out for no apparent reason. He didn't want to listen to this anymore. He stalked off to the castle, leaving Dawn and Jean alone.

Dawn sighed as Cal walked off. She had figured he would have reacted like that, but he needed to know. He couldn't wander around without having information like that on his side. If anyone saw him, they might think he had somehow escaped Azkaban, and he would be immediately killed for it. She turned her gaze to Jean, who was looking dumbfounded. She nodded weakly. "You are." She smiled slightly as she remembered one thing she had forgotten. "Your oldest boy, Emmett...he's engaged to Cal's oldest girl. I just thought that was a nice piece of irony."

She stared as cal stalked off. She looked back to her feet and rocked back and forth on them. "I believe you." she said softly. She was being extremely cautious. She didn't know what Dawn was like in the future? Did she miss her? Why didn't she write? Was she happy? Jean sat back down not knowing what to do. This was an intense overload of information that she honestly didn't know she could deal with. She would never say it out loud. But she needed Cliff at this moment. Right here, right now. He always rationalized things for her, that was one of his strong points; keeping her sane.

Dawn sighed at the look on Jean's face. "I'm sorry," she said, simply. The old her, the one from school was still buried in there somewhere, but under layers and layers of ice and years of seeing and hearing too many things that no one should ever have to. "Jean...I'm sorry for never writing all of those years. But it was complicated. It was really, really complicated."

Snnnap The invisible barrier keeping in Jean's emotions had snapped. It was so complicated that you couldn't take five minutes to let me know that you were alive? Five minutes that could have saved me from the 20 YEARS of pain and guilt I had. DO know how long I waited up at night just to see if you would come back after you left? I stayed up for 9 months! I kept thinking, she needed a break...it'll be fine...she'll be back. Every single DAY I thought of you asking myself the same stupid questions. 'Is she alive? Is she happy? Does she think of me..ever?' You said your self we were best friends. Why would you let me go through this. You KNOW I was way too protective of you. I went through absolute HELL these past years." She had to stop before her voice betrayed her. Her eyes already had letting the dam of tears fall from her green orbs.

Dawn bit her lip as Jean began to shout at her, obviously releasing years of pain and tension and concern. All about her. If Dawn had known that Jean had cared enough, she would have written. "Remember Caden? Remember all of the things that went on? Well, the reason he was there? It was Daniel." Daniel had been Dawn's older brother; the one who had murdered her parents and left her an orphan. Dawn had ratted him out the authorities and she thought he had been locked away, but he had just come back after her and her friends. "I left because I thought if I did, he would never go after you guys. I guess I was wrong." She looked incredibly sad, her blue eyes turned towards the ground. She couldn't explain it any farther than that.

When she heard Dawn's explanation she felt bad. But that didn't explain the reason why should couldn't take the time to write a teeny tiny letter to her just to let her know what was happening. "Dan? Really?" She thinks what Dawn did was noble and stupid at the same time. "But you could have gotten killed Dawnie? Cal and I could have taken care of ourselves. You didn't need to leave."

Dawn felt a wave of shame rush over her as Jean looked and sounded concerned. "I know you could have, but it wasn't all that, to be honest. Part of it was Rhys. He found me after I left, and, well, we got married. It was a little rushed, a little stupid, and I had Talon only a year afterwards." She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "I was happy for the last twenty years. I was. I really was. Then all of this shit started happening, and now you and Cal are here..." She paused, then widened her eyes again. "Is it just you and Cal here?"
